Former Bangladesh captain and veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been banned from bowling in all competitions organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) due to an illegal bowling action.

The suspension will take effect from the receipt of the independent assessment on December 10, 2024.

Earlier in September, Shakib made his return to county cricket with Surrey against Somerset after 13 years, bowling 63 overs and taking 9 wickets. Despite his performance, no "no balls" were called during the match.

Two months later, English umpires Steve O'Shaughnessy and David Milnes submitted a report raising concerns about Shakib's bowling action.

Following the procedure, he underwent a bowling action test at Loughborough University this month, where his bowling action was found to be illegal.

Shakib Al Hasan, who has played international and domestic cricket for 20 years, is facing his first-ever bowling ban.
