Shakib becomes first player to reach 7000 runs and 500 wickets in T20s
Bangladesh's star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has become the first player in T20 cricket history to record both 7,000 runs and 500 wickets.
The 38-year-old reached the milestone while playing for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025.
He claimed his 500th T20 wicket by dismissing Mohammad Rizwan with a return catch in the 15th over.
Shakib went on to take two more wickets in the following over, finishing with figures of 3 for 11 and bringing his career tally to 502 wickets.
He joins an elite group of T20 bowlers to have taken 500 or more wickets—Rashid Khan (660), Dwayne Bravo (631), Sunil Narine (590), and Imran Tahir (554) — but remains the only one among them to surpass 7,000 runs.
As of this match, Shakib has scored 7,574 runs in T20s, making him the only cricketer to achieve this historic double.
