Shakib to play in US minor league

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is going to play for Atlanta Fire in US minor league cricket.

Atlanta has taken 38-year-old Shakib as an international wild card player.

The tournament will run from August 28 to October 2.

The club wrote on their Facebook page: "We are thrilled to announce that one of the world’s best all-rounders, Shakib Al Hasan, is joining the Atlanta Fire team as an international wild card player for the 2025 minor league season. A game changer with both bat and ball, Shakib will bring his experience, skill and star power to the Fire’s lineup. Get ready to see his magic in Atlanta."

Currently, Shakib is playing in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He scored 11 runs in 16 balls for Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in a match against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. He bowled one over but did not take a wicket.

Shakib will not be able to attend the opening matches of the Minor League due to his CPL commitments. The star all-rounder will fly to the United States after the Caribbean tournament.
