Shanto-Hridoy to miss ODI series, Miraz to lead

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday announced the squad for the upcoming three-match ODIs against the West Indies, with Najmul Hossain Shanto and batter Towhid Hridoy ruled out due to injuries.

Shanto is still recovering from a groin injury, so Mehedi Hasan Miraz will captain the team for the first time in a full series. Towhid Hridoy is also unavailable because he is dealing with groin problems, according to the BCB's Medical Team.

BCB Sports Physician Monzur Hossain Chowdhury said, "Hridoy reported pain in his right groin, and after further tests, a medical condition was confirmed. He has been advised to rest, and we will re-evaluate his condition in two weeks to decide when he can return to play."

Meanwhile, left-handed Afif Hossain has been called up to the ODI squad after a year. Liton Das, Parvez Hossain Emon, Hasan Mahmud, and Tanzim Sakib are also back. However, experienced player Mushfiqur Rahim, who is still recovering from an injury, and Mustafizur Rahman, who is on leave for family reasons, will miss the series.
