Bangladesh all-rounder Sheikh Mehedi Hasan is facing disciplinary action after making controversial remarks about the national team's management, prompting him to appear before the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) disciplinary committee.

According to BCB sources, Mehedi appeared before the committee on Wednesday (July 23), where he submitted his explanation and acknowledged his mistake during the hearing.

The controversy stems from comments he made following Bangladesh's T20I series against Australia last month. Despite scoring 29 off 22 balls and claiming a wicket in the opening match, Mehedi was left out of the playing XI for the next two games.

Speaking to the media afterward, he expressed frustration over his inconsistent selection, saying he considers himself a T20 specialist but continues to miss opportunities due to team combinations and match-up strategies.

He argued that regular game time would help improve his performances.

The BCB viewed the remarks as a potential breach of its code of conduct and summoned the all-rounder for a disciplinary hearing.

A board source said no final decision has been taken yet, with the disciplinary committee reviewing whether Mehedi has any previous record of similar misconduct before determining the punishment.

BCB director Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir confirmed that the player's comments amounted to a code of conduct violation and said Mehedi had been verbally warned.

"He admitted his mistake, and that will be taken into consideration before the disciplinary committee finalises its decision," Alamgir said.

The committee is expected to decide later whether Mehedi will face a financial penalty, deduction of match fees or any other disciplinary sanction.
