The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday that providing shelter to individuals convicted of crimes against humanity would be highly unfriendly and show disregard for justice.

The statement followed the International Crimes Tribunal’s death sentences against Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal for their roles in the July uprising killing.

Bangladesh urged the Indian government to immediately hand over the convicted leaders under the existing extradition agreement, emphasizing it as a binding responsibility.

The ministry noted that Bangladesh had previously made multiple formal requests for Hasina’s return, but no positive response had been received from India.
