The decision to ban filming of dramas and movies in Uttara Sector-4 is likely to be lifted soon, albeit with specific conditions. A final decision is expected to be made today (Saturday, July 27) during a joint meeting between the Uttara Welfare Association, shooting house owners, and other concerned stakeholders.

On July 20, the Uttara Sector-4 Welfare Association issued a notice urging local homeowners not to rent out their residences for shooting purposes. The decision was based on concerns over public gatherings, noise pollution, and inconvenience to residents during filming. However, following protests from directors and an official objection from the Directors’ Guild, new discussions were initiated.

Golam Rabbani, an administrative official of the Welfare Association, said,
"Preserving the residential environment is our top priority. However, if shooting units operate in an orderly manner and respect the comfort of local residents, a coordinated effort could allow filming to continue. We hope today’s meeting will lead to a reasonable solution."

Khalilur Rahman, advisor to the Shooting House Owners’ Association and owner of ‘Apon Ghor’ shooting house, stated,
"We’ve been involved in this industry for 30 years. A sudden ban is not a sustainable solution. Issues can be resolved through dialogue and cooperation. We are well aware that certain rules must be followed to operate in a residential area."

Currently, three active shooting houses operate in Uttara Sector-4: Laboni-4, Laboni-5, and Apon Ghor-2. Additionally, one private television channel maintains a shooting house in the area, though it functions irregularly.

The announcement of the ban sparked dissatisfaction across the television and film industry. Many expressed concerns that such a move would disrupt drama and film production and render numerous artists and crew members jobless.

Based on discussions among all parties involved, the matter now seems to be heading toward a practical resolution. Sources have indicated that shooting activities are likely to resume soon, subject to a set of agreed-upon conditions.
