Shopping malls, markets ordered to close by 7pm
In order to strengthen electricity conservation activities, the government has ordered all shopping malls, markets and shops in the country to be closed by 7pm again. At the same time, ongoing and upcoming fairs, trade fairs and any kind of cultural programs have also been asked to end by 7pm.
A directive in this regard was issued by the Coordination-2 Branch of the Power Department on Monday (June 1). This directive has been sent to the mayors and administrators, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners of all city corporations in the country.
The order of the Power Department mentioned that according to the previous directive of the Prime Minister's Office, the decision to keep all shopping malls, markets and shops open until 7pm to save electricity was effective. However, the deadline for keeping shops open temporarily until 10pm to facilitate business and commerce on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The new directive states that the special benefits given on the occasion of Eid have expired. Therefore, from June 1, all shopping malls, markets and shops will have to close by 7pm instead of 10pm as per the previous decision. In addition, all types of billboard lights have also been ordered to be turned off by 7pm to ensure electricity conservation.
