Showbiz fraternity mourns Khaleda Zia's death

The death of BNP chairperson and three-time former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia, on Tuesday morning has cast a shadow of grief across the country, including the entertainment industry.

She died at 6am while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital. Alongside the political arena, the Dhaka entertainment world has been deeply shaken by the loss.

Artists and filmmakers have described her passing as the end of an era, remembering her through emotional messages on social media and offering prayers for the peace of her departed soul.

Veteran actor Tariq Anam Khan wrote on Facebook that he expressed sorrow at her death, prayed for eternal peace for her soul, paid tribute to the country’s first woman prime minister and conveyed heartfelt condolences to her family.

Actor Shakib Khan shared a black-and-white photograph of Khaleda Zia on Facebook, writing that he expressed deep sorrow at her death, prayed for her forgiveness and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.

Musician James also expressed grief, writing that they mourned the death of the uncompromising leader and elected former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Actress Shabnam Bubly paid tribute to the country’s first woman prime minister and prayed for eternal peace for her soul. Actor Arifin Shuvoo wrote that her departure marked the end of a long political chapter. Actress Jaya Ahsan described her passing as a great loss at a critical time for the nation.

Actress, director and singer Meher Afroz Shaon, filmmakers Mabrur Rashid Bannah and Redoan Rony, and actress Porimoni also expressed deep sorrow, remembering Khaleda Zia as a defining figure in Bangladesh’s political history.

Many others, including Ziaul Faruq Apurba, Rafiath Rashid Mithila, Ashna Habib Bhabna, Puja Cherry, Apu Biswas, Arsh Khan and Rukaiya Jahan Chamak, shared messages of condolence and prayed for her departed soul.
