Singer hacked to death in Narayanganj

A singer was brutally hacked to death while returning home after a performance in Narayanganj’s Fatulla area.

The deceased was identified as Sumon Khalifa, 32, was the son of Montu Khalifa from Agailjhara upazila in Barishal. His body was recovered from a road beside an abandoned house in the Middle Narsingpur area on Monday morning (December 1).

Police said Suman and his wife, singer Sonia Akter, had performed at an event in Panchabati the previous night. Suman stepped outside during the programme and did not came back.

Sonia Akter said, “We performed together, and after he went outside, he never came back. Later, I received the news of his death.”

Initial investigations indicate he was stabbed with a sharp weapon, but the motive and perpetrators remain unknown.

Additional Police Superintendent (K-Circle) Hasinuzzaman confirmed that the body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy and that an investigation is underway to identify the culprits.
