‘Sinners’ makes history with 16 Oscar nominations as final list announced

The final nominations for the 98th Academy Awards have been announced. The list was revealed live from the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Beverly Hills, California, at 7.30pm Bangladesh time by actors Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks.

The film Sinners set a new Oscar record by receiving 16 nominations, including best picture, across 24 categories. Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another followed with 13 nominations.

Other leading contenders include Frankenstein, Marty Supreme and Sentimental Value with nine nominations each, while Hamnet received eight.

The Oscar winners will be announced at a gala ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on March 15.
