Bangladesh batter Habibur Rahman Sohan has set a new record for the fastest century by a Bangladeshi player, reaching the milestone in just 45 balls in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL).

Playing for Legends of Rupganj against City Club at the ULAB ground, Sohan surpassed his own previous record of 49 balls, which he had set during the 2023 BCL season. His record had been matched by Mosaddek Hossain Saikat earlier in the ongoing DPL, but Sohan reclaimed sole ownership of the feat with this explosive innings.

Sohan brought up his fifty in just 26 balls before accelerating further to complete a 58-ball 130, marking the best innings of his List A career.

His knock featured 8 fours and 13 towering sixes, entertaining spectators with aggressive stroke play throughout the innings. The 13 sixes also stand as the second-highest by a Bangladeshi batter in a single List A innings, behind Soumya Sarkar’s 16 sixes in 2019.

Globally, the record for the fastest ODI century remains with Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk, who reached the milestone in 29 balls, while the most sixes in a single innings stands at 23, held by D’Arcy Short.
