Sohel Rana receives lifetime achievement honour at BGICF Awards
The BGIC Award Season 4 was held with grandeur at a four-star hotel in Dhaka on Thursday under the joint initiative of the Bangladesh Green Leaf Cultural Forum and Green Leaf Magazine.
Freedom fighter and popular film actor Masud Parvez Sohel Rana attended the programme as the chief guest. Peace International Human Rights chairman Kamrul Kayes Chowdhury was present as the keynote speaker, while Green Leaf Magazine adviser and Amader Alokito Samaj chairman Md Kamrul Islam presided over the event. Central JASAS joint convener and former Dhaka University Senate member Md Liaqat Ali attended as a special guest.
Among others present were former additional secretary Pirzada Shahidul Harun, BFDC senior vice-president and film actor DA Tayeb, Professor Dr Jinat Begum, vice-principal of Asian Medical College and Hospital and head of the gynaecology and obstetrics department, former associate professor of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, popular film actress Renu Rozina, renowned singers Robi Chowdhury and Rizia Parveen, Marriage Solution chairman Shakhawat Hossain Shuvo, media personality Karu Krishan, Helal Uddin Sikder and many other distinguished personalities.
The programme began with a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs of the 2024 anti-discrimination movement, followed by the national anthem. The Green Leaf family conferred the lifetime achievement honour on freedom fighter and popular film actor Masud Parvez Sohel Rana. Awards were presented in 40 categories to distinguished individuals for their special contributions in various fields.
Awards for best singer were given to Monir Khan, Robi Chowdhury, Rizia Parveen and Akhi Alamgir. Senior film actress Renu Rozina, popular film actress Achol, actresses Farin Khan and Prarthana Fardin Dighi, actors DA Tayeb, Joy Chowdhury and Bappi Chowdhury, performers Tanha Tasnia, Rehana, Parsana Ivana, popular child artistes Disha Moni, Alesha Hossain, Tasin and Tajim, band promoter Barish Haque, fashion choreographer Gautam Saha, dancer Evan Shahriar Sohag, influencer Sanjida Sayma and entrepreneur Mithila Islam were also honoured. Certificates were awarded alongside a colourful cultural programme, including a Babble Blue fashion show and dance performances.
Expressing his gratitude after receiving the BGICF lifetime achievement honour, Masud Parvez Sohel Rana said, “In a country where talent is not valued, talent does not flourish. I am deeply honoured and grateful to the BGICF family. I hope they will continue to honour talented individuals in this way.”
Green Leaf Magazine editor and BGICF director Taslim Hasan Hridoy said they always strive to do something different, present something new and uphold traditional heritage before the new generation. He added that the Green Leaf platform will continue its tradition of honouring distinguished individuals.
