Photographers may face difficulties purchasing memory cards, as Sony has halted shipments of its SD and CFexpress memory cards due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage. According to reports cited by PetaPixel via The Verge, Sony Japan announced that supply of the cards will likely remain unable to meet demand for the foreseeable future because of shortages in semiconductors and other related components. As a result, the company said it has temporarily suspended accepting orders for CFexpress and SD memory cards from authorised dealers and customers at Sony Stores starting March 27, 2026.
