Though she made her debut with Hindi films, Tamanna Bhatia's success began with Telugu films. In a career spanning almost two decades, she has established herself as a leading actress in the South Indian industry. From that experience, Tamanna feels that the industry is 'somewhat patriarchal'.

She made this observation in a recent interview with Forbes India. According to her, there is a certain view of women in South Indian films, which is not very positive. Bollywood is comparatively ahead in that regard.

Tamanna said, 'There are basically two types of actors and actresses in the Hindi film industry. Some are more comfortable in industry-oriented roles, so they are not always seen in glamorous singing or dancing roles. However, Bollywood gives opportunities for both these types of work. And those who can do both, eventually become superstars.'

On the other hand, what is the South Indian industry like? Tamanna said, 'There is a certain view there. It can be called a bit patriarchal, and that view is not very positive or complimentary towards women. But I understood the music-based aspect of it. Star presence is very important in films there. When it comes to commercial success, films are often quite limited.’

Finally, Tamanna also clarified that these are her personal thoughts. Others’ experiences may be different. According to her, actresses who have been able to sustain their careers for 10-15 years or more have shown equal skill in dance-song films as well as acting films.

Currently, Tamanna is waiting for the release of her new film ‘Vivaan: Force of the Forest’. The film, produced by Deepak Mishra, also stars Sidharth Malhotra, Manish Paul, Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari, among others. The film will release on August 26.
