Spain's Nico Williams dedicates World Cup to Neymar

Winning the World Cup was the lifelong dream of Neymar's career. Despite getting the opportunity to play four times, the Brazilian star could not fulfil that dream. Each time, he had to watch his dream slip away through tears.

Whether Neymar will play in the 2030 World Cup is uncertain. If he doesn't feature in the centenary World Cup, the golden trophy will remain a regret for the 34-year-old striker.

After Spain beat Argentina 1-0 to win the World Cup, Nico Williams dedicated the golden trophy to Neymar.

Williams considers Neymar as his idol. In that spirit, the Spain striker paid tribute to his favourite player.

After the final at the MetLife Stadium, he told journalists, "I am very happy. This is the most beautiful moment of my life. Neymar is my idol. I hope he watched our game. This trophy is for him too."

Williams had the opportunity to make the trophy-winning moment even more memorable by scoring in extra time, but his goal was ruled out after Mikel Merino was fouled by an Argentina player. However, he still contributed to Spain's victory — his assist set up Ferran Torres for the winning goal. On the disallowed goal, Williams said, "No problem that the goal was ruled out. We won anyway!"
