Spanish animated film based on Begum Rokeya’s ‘Sultana’s Dream’ to release in Bangladesh

A film based on the famous work of Bengali Muslim women’s emancipation pioneer Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, Sultana’s Dream, has been produced by Spanish filmmaker Isabel Harguera.

The 86-minute animated film is titled El Sueño de la Sultana in Spanish, and Sultana’s Dream in English. It premiered at the San Sebastián Film Festival in Spain on September 25, 2023.

The film has since been screened at various international festivals, including the European Film Festival, Goa Festival, Filmfest Hamburg, and Leeds International Film Festival.

Bangladeshi audiences will now have the opportunity to watch the acclaimed film, which will be released tomorrow at Star Cineplex. The movie features dialogues in Bengali, English, Hindi, Italian, Spanish, and Basque.
