Srabanti files police complaint over obscene remarks on her figure

Popular Kolkata actress Srabanti Chatterjee has approached police after becoming a target of obscene comments on social media regarding her physical appearance and weight gain. The actress has filed an FIR with the cyber crime branch of Kolkata Police.

Srabanti lodged a written complaint via email on Friday against those making obscene and negative comments on social media. Police sources confirmed they have received the complaint and are examining the matter.

Commenting on the issue, Srabanti said, "I could not remain patient any longer. We artistes are soft targets anyway. But I am saying this not just as an artiste but as an ordinary person—such filthy comments day after day cannot be tolerated. Negative remarks are being made about my face and body. But one should consider why my appearance has changed."

Srabanti has recently completed shooting for a web series titled 'Thakumar Jhuli', where she will be seen in the role of a grandmother. The actress claimed she had to gain nearly 10 kg for the role.

She said, "One has to prepare accordingly to portray a grandmother's character. A grandmother cannot have the slim figure of a heroine. But people love to comment without knowing anything. Sadly, not just men—women are also among those making such remarks."
