Strict action against supporting juvenile gangs: Foreign minister
Strict action will be taken against those who support the juvenile gangs that have become a cause of concern in recent times.
Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said this while addressing a views-exchange meeting with journalists at the YNT Centre on Dewanji Pukur Lane in Chattogram city on Wednesday (April 10) afternoon.
He said, "In the last cabinet meeting, there was an informal discussion about juvenile gangs. The prime minister has directed that the law and order forces take appropriate action against such gangs.”
Hashan Mahmud, also Awami League Joint General Secretary, said, "The prime minister has suggested that after arresting the youth gang members, they should be sent to correctional facilities instead of being jailed; because, if they are sent to the jail, they can become more dangerous elements by joining other terrorists there.”
He said, “This is a new problem in the country, the government is working to eradicate it. Strict action will be and is being taken against whoever is behind the juvenile gang, no matter, whichever party he belongs to."
