At least 11 people lost their lives and six others were injured following sudden heavy rains and floods in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said in a statement on Friday (June 27) that the deaths occurred in Swat and nearby areas.

According to the PDMA’s initial report, rising water levels of the Swat River damaged homes and infrastructure in several areas near Khwazakhela. Swat was the hardest-hit region, where 10 people died. Among the deceased were four men, three women, and four children.

The injured include three men and three women.

The PDMA has set up an emergency operation center and is coordinating with local authorities and relevant departments to conduct rescue operations.

Additionally, flood warnings have been issued for the Nowshera and Charsadda districts, which are considered at risk.
