Sujon returns to BCB as age-group cricket consultant

Former captain Khaled Mahmud Sujon has returned to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) with the aim of developing the next generation of cricketers from the grassroots level. He has been appointed as the consultant for age-group cricket for the next two years.

In 2020, the Bangladesh Under-19 team won the historic World Cup title for the first time in South Africa. As the head of the BCB's Game Development Unit at the time, Sujon played a significant role in that victory. Considering his long-standing experience and success in age-group cricket, the BCB's top leadership has brought him back.

Speaking about his new role, Khaled Mahmud Sujon said, "I had been discussing the matter of working with age-group cricket with Tamim [BCB president] for quite some time. I have been given a two-year contract. We have won the Under-19 World Cup. Even after leaving the board, I have primarily worked as a coach with age-group cricketers."

He added, "This new role is completely suitable for me. I hope to be able to do something good in the next two years."

The 54-year-old former all-rounder has previously held several important positions at the BCB. Apart from being the chairman of the board's Game Development Committee, he has also served as the team director of the Bangladesh national team in multiple ICC tournaments.
