‘Superman’ star Terence Stamp dies at 87
Renowned English actor Terence Stamp passed away Sunday morning at the age of 87, his family confirmed in a statement to Reuters.
Stamp, best known for his iconic role as the villainous General Zod in the 1978 film Superman and its 1980 sequel Superman II, left behind a remarkable legacy in film and writing.
“He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come,” his family said. They also requested privacy during this difficult time.
Stamp’s diverse career spanned decades, with notable performances in films such as Billy Budd (1962), Wall Street (1987), The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994), and The Haunted Mansion (2003).
Fans and fellow actors took to social media, including X (formerly Twitter), to mourn the loss of the beloved star.
Representatives for Stamp have yet to respond to requests for comment.
