Suvendu Adhikari has taken oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal, marking the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (Bharatiya Janata Party) government in the state for the first time.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Brigade Parade Ground on Saturday (May 9) in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, senior BJP leaders, and chief ministers from several states.

Following the oath-taking, five ministers were also inducted into the new cabinet. They include Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Nisith Pramanik, Shankar Ghosh, and Khudiram Tudu.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the venue shortly before the ceremony and joined Adhikari in an open-top procession, greeting supporters. The event also featured a tribute to Rabindranath Tagore on his birth anniversary.

Leaders including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and other NDA chief ministers were present at the high-profile ceremony.

The political shift follows the BJP’s victory in the recent West Bengal Assembly elections, ending the long-standing rule of the Trinamool Congress in the state.
