Swara Bhasker’s husband Fahad Ahmad detained in Mumbai
Amid protests surrounding India’s NEET-UG examination, political activist Fahad Ahmad, husband of Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker, has been detained by police in Mumbai.
Fahad Ahmad took part in a demonstration organized at Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai’s Dadar area, demanding the cancellation of the NEET exam and seeking justice over allegations of paper leaks. Mumbai Police detained him directly from the protest site on Monday.
In a video shared on social media by Swara Bhasker, police can be seen taking Fahad away. In the clip, Fahad is heard asking, "Why am I being detained? What is my crime?"
Later, he also released a video message from inside a police vehicle. Sharing that video, Swara Bhasker alleged that her husband along with several other protesters had been taken to Mahim Police Station. She also criticized the police's behavior toward peaceful demonstrators.
Swara Bhasker urged the protesters to continue their movement peacefully.
According to local media reports, police resorted to a lathi charge to disperse the demonstration. While it has been claimed that several students and protesters were injured in the process, Mumbai Police have not officially released any information regarding the exact number of individuals injured or detained.
