Swastika hits back at criticism over comments on love

West Bengal actress Swastika Mukherjee has sparked fresh controversy over remarks about romantic relationships but has responded sharply to criticism on social media instead of remaining silent.

Though not always in the spotlight for films, Swastika frequently makes headlines for her personal life and outspoken views. Recently, her comment that being in multiple relationships at the same time can be good triggered widespread debate.

Responding on social media, Swastika wrote that she did say being in multiple relationships simultaneously is acceptable and stood by her statement. She added that she will continue to respond in similar ways whenever asked about love by the media.

She criticised people for focusing more on gossip than education and questioned when love became such a serious offence in society.

Escalating her tone, she wrote that she would not respond based on others’ opinions and would not change herself to please anyone.

She concluded by saying that if time permits, people should focus on love and on finding ways to stay mentally healthy, adding that social media does not contribute to well-being.
