Tahura's hat-trick helps Rajshahi Stars to 8-0 win in final match
Rajshahi Stars FC of Bangladesh has secured a big win in their final match of the preliminary round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Champions League. They defeated Rovers FC of Guam 8-0 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia today.
Rajshahi Stars ended their continental debut with a win in the final match after suffering defeats in the previous matches. However, the results of the earlier matches meant the Bangladesh side could not advance to the next round.
Rajshahi took the lead in the third minute of the match. A shot taken by Shamsunnahar Senior from nearly 30 yards slipped past the hands of Rovers goalkeeper J Almont and found the net.
Tahura Khatun doubled the lead in the 17th minute. She sent the ball into the net from close range after a brilliant run and cross by Sultana from the left. Tahura scored again eight minutes later. The Bangladesh forward scored the goal from close range after a low cross by Shamsunnahar.
Rajshahi’s attacks continued after the break. The scoreline became 4-0 through an own goal in the 53rd minute. Monica Chakma scored the fifth goal just a few seconds later.
Tahura completed her hat-trick by scoring her third goal in the 60th minute. Shamsunnahar Junior scored in the 71st minute to make it 7-0. Shams scored in the fifth minute of added time to seal Rajshahi’s 8-0 victory.
