Taijul now highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in Test

Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam has surpassed Shakib Al Hasan to become Bangladesh's highest wicket-taker in Test cricket.

Taijul equaled Shakib Al Hasan's record as the joint-highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in Test cricket, with 246 wickets on Friday.

He clsimed 4-76 in the first innings of the second Test against Ireland at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. He needed only 1 wicket to surpass Shakib.

Taijul dismissed Irish opener Andy Balbirnie, who scored 13 runs at the start of the second innings on Saturday. With this, he surpassed Shakib. His wicket tally stood at 248. On the other hand, Shakib has now dropped to second position with 246 wickets.

Ireland is batting at a target of 509 runs set by Bangladesh in this match.
