Taliban signals to hold talks to resolve border tensions
Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers have signaled a willingness to engage in talks to resolve the ongoing border clashes with Pakistan, reports The Dawn.
Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry said Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi spoke over phone with Qatar’s junior foreign minister Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, emphasising that Afghanistan seeks solutions based on mutual respect and understanding.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid highlighted the importance of dialogue over conflict to address the current crisis.
The proposal for talks comes after several days of deadly exchanges along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Regional powers including Iran, China, and Russia have also launched diplomatic initiatives to help contain tensions.
