Tamim Iqbal calls for independent probe into Jahanara Alam’s allegations
Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal has called for an independent investigation into national women’s team pacer Jahanara Alam’s allegations, describing them as “serious and unacceptable if proven true.”
In a Facebook post on Friday (November 7), Tamim said such allegations should not be dismissed without a fair inquiry.
He urged the formation of a neutral probe committee outside the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), ideally under the National Sports Council or government supervision, to ensure impartiality.
“No athlete, especially women, should face such treatment at any level of sport,” he wrote, calling on all victims of harassment to speak up.
Tamim warned that ignoring the issue or failing to ensure justice could discourage women from pursuing sports in the future.
