Tamim Iqbal elected BCB president
Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal has been elected as the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, following his role as head of the ad-hoc committee. The election took place at the BCB office in Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday, June 7.
Tamim first secured a director position with a landslide victory and was then elected president by the board of directors. He was the sole candidate for the presidency, making him the 18th president of BCB and the sixth elected president. Fahim Sinha has been elected as vice-president.
Tamim was elected as a director from the Dhaka club category. The other elected directors from this category are Masuduzzaman, Rafiqul Islam Babu, Yasir Abbas, Israfil Khosru, Saeed Ibrahim, Shaniyan Tanim, Fahim Sinha, Yasir Faisal, Asif Rabbani, Dr Mahbub Shamim, and Sakef Ahmed Salam.
Sixteen candidates contested for 12 director positions in the club category. The losing candidates are Borhanul Pappu, Amjad Hossain, Fayazur Rahman Mitu, and Imroz Ahmed.
Tamim Iqbal received the highest number of votes with 73. Saeed Ibrahim Ahmed and Israfil Khosru came second with 72 votes each, followed by Masuduzzaman with 70 and Yasir Faisal with 68.
