Tamim pulls out of BCB election

Tamim Iqbal, the former captain of the national team, will no longer be vying for a position on Bangladesh cricket’s governing body.

Tamim confirmed the decision himself on Wednesday, the last day for candidates to withdraw from the upcoming Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections.

At least 10 other candidates withdrew from the polls on Wednesday.


One of them, Israfil Khosru of the Axiom Cricketers’ Council, spoke to the media, stating that the decision was to protest interference by a group with links to the government.

He said: “A section of the government is interfering. That is all I can say for now. We will hold a press conference soon and provide details.”
