Tanzid equals catching record in men's T20I

Tanzid Hasan Tamim has etched his name into the record books by taking five catches, the joint-most (non-wicketkeeper) in a single Men’s T20 International.

He touched the record during today's final T20I match against Ireland at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram.

Bangladesh produced a disciplined bowling and fielding display to bowl out Ireland for just 117 runs in 19.5 overs in the match.

Winning the toss, Ireland opted to bat first and began with promise. Skipper Paul Stirling led from the front, crafting a confident 38 off 27 deliveries with characteristic flair. His innings provided early momentum, while Tim Tector chipped in with a breezy 17 off 10 balls. However, the rest of the Irish batting order faltered against Bangladesh’s varied bowling attack and sharp fielding pressure.

From the home side, Mustafizur Rahman was once again exceptional, finishing with figures of 3 wickets. Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain also impressed, matching Mustafizur with 3 wickets of his own, including crucial breakthroughs that stalled Ireland’s recovery attempts. Shoriful Islam delivered a steady spell, claiming 2 wickets for 21 runs in 3 overs.

Mohammad Saifuddin was the most expensive among the bowlers but still managed to pick up a wicket, conceding 31 runs in 3.5 overs before wrapping up Ireland’s innings.
