Tarique, Erdogan vow to deepen Bangladesh-Türkiye ties

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have expressed their commitment to further strengthening Bangladesh-Türkiye relations and exploring new areas of cooperation based on shared interests and priorities.

The two leaders held a bilateral meeting at the Turkish House at 821 United Nations Plaza in New York on Tuesday evening (September 22), on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

They discussed ways to expand existing cooperation in the economy, trade and investment sectors, while exchanging views on issues of mutual interest.

Regional and international developments were also discussed, with both sides stressing the importance of continued coordination and close cooperation between Bangladesh and Türkiye.

The meeting underscored the two countries’ longstanding friendly relations and their interest in opening new avenues for bilateral cooperation.

Türkiye’s Communications Directorate separately said Erdogan also stressed the need to increase bilateral trade and place relations on a more institutional footing.
