Tarique Rahman to return to Bangladesh within weeks: Dr Zahid
Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain, a member of BNP’s Standing Committee, has said that the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman will return to the country within a few weeks.
He made the remark on Saturday (September 6) at a conference of the employees’ association of Pubali Bank held at the bank’s Motijheel office in Dhaka.
Dr Zahid Hossain said, “Tarique Rahman will return to the country within the next few weeks. Under his leadership, the conspiracy to derail the election will be prevented. The upcoming election is scheduled to be held in February.”
He added, “Those who do not believe in the country’s independence and sovereignty are plotting. The fallen autocracy is trying to deprive the people of their rights through backdoor tactics.”
The BNP leader further stated, “The demand for proportional representation (PR) is illegal. The constitution cannot simply be discarded at will. People’s aspirations must be understood without being swayed by emotions.”
