Tauquir Ahmed announces new film
Renowned Bangladeshi actor, filmmaker and playwright Tauquir Ahmed has announced a new film project during a celebration marking his 60th birthday.
The day-long celebration was held at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Sunday (April 19), bringing together leading artists, cultural figures and theatre personalities.
Speaking at the event, Tauquir also revealed plans to adapt his acclaimed film 'Oggatonama' into a stage production. He said that he will present the film’s human and social themes in a new dimension for audiences.
The programme featured seminars, reminiscences, documentary and film screenings, and theatre performances. A seminar titled “Our Culture and the Responsibility of Artists” focused on his artistic vision and contributions.
Prominent cultural figures including Mamunur Rashid, Azizul Hakim, Gazi Rakayet, Abul Kalam Azad, Deepa Khandakar, Abul Hayat, Afzal Hossain and Mahfuz Ahmed attended the event, praising his long creative journey.
The ceremony began with a musical performance by Pintu Ghosh, followed by a ceremonial inauguration. The film 'Oggatonama' was screened in the afternoon, while the evening concluded with a stage performance of his play 'Tirthojatri'.
