Taylor Swift set to return with new single after wedding

Pop superstar Taylor Swift is set to return with new music after her wedding to NFL star Travis Kelce, with her new single “Patient Zero” scheduled for release on September 25.

Swift announced the song on Instagram on Tuesday (September 22), saying she had been waiting to share the news with fans. The single is available for a limited-time pre-order through her official website and will also feature acoustic and piano versions.

The release comes just two days before the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, where Swift is set to receive the inaugural Artist Director Honours. The new award recognizes artists whose work behind the camera has expanded the possibilities of music videos and visual storytelling.

Swift and Kelce married on July 3 at New York’s Madison Square Garden, marking a major change in the singer’s personal life before her latest musical release.

The new single follows Swift’s recent work on the “Toy Story 5” soundtrack. She is also set for a major presence at this year’s VMAs, where she has received nine nominations alongside the newly introduced honour.
