Television legend Mostafizur Rahman passes away

Mostafizur Rahman, one of the architects of Bangladesh's television industry and a renowned producer-director, has passed away, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the country's broadcasting sector.

He died on Sunday (July 26). Media personality and television producer Kh M Harun confirmed the news in a social media post.

A key figure behind the golden era of Bangladesh Television (BTV), Mostafizur Rahman produced several landmark dramas that helped redefine television storytelling in Bangladesh.

His notable productions, including Sokal Shondha, Ei Shob Din Ratri and Shonkhonil Karagar, remain among the most celebrated works in the country's television history.

Known for his creative vision and distinctive production style, he played a pivotal role in shaping modern Bangladeshi television drama. He later served as Director General of Bangladesh Television, contributing to the growth and modernization of the state broadcaster.

Following his retirement from BTV, he remained actively involved in the media industry, playing an instrumental role in the development of private television channels Banglavision and GTV. His leadership and vision helped strengthen Bangladesh's broadcast landscape.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mostafizur Rahman was widely respected as a mentor who nurtured generations of directors, presenters and media professionals. His commitment to discovering new talent and promoting quality television earned him admiration across the industry.
