Tension over Jamaat candidate's entry into polling centre at night

Tensions have arisen over Jamaat candidate for Faridpur-1 constituency Professor Dr. Md. Ilias Mollah's entry into a polling centre at night. Later, the situation normalized with the intervention of the administration.

The incident took place at Ashapur Senior Madrasa center in Ward No. 2 of Ghazna Union in Madhukhali Upazila at 10 pm on Wednesday (February 11).

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhukhali Police Station Fakir Md. Taizur Rahman said that after receiving the information, the police, army and Upazila Assistant Commissioner reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

Madhukhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Assistant Returning Officer Rawshana Jahan said, "There is no provision for entering the polling station in this way in the dark of night." Stating that the matter is being investigated, she said that the presiding officer of the center concerned will be changed in this incident and necessary legal action will be taken.

In this regard, Faridpur District Jamaat Ameer Md. Badruddin said he was not aware of the incident. He said he was investigating the matter.
