Actress Kelley Mack, best known for her role in the hit television series The Walking Dead, has died at the age of 33.

Born Kelley Klebenow, Mack passed away peacefully on Saturday in her hometown of Cincinnati after battling glioma, a type of tumor affecting the brain and central nervous system, according to a statement posted on the CaringBridge platform.

“It is with indelible sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Kelley,” said a post on Mack’s official Instagram account on Tuesday. “Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.”

Mack’s death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from friends, colleagues, and fans who described her as a “talented” actress and “sweet soul.” Alanna Masterson, who also starred in The Walking Dead, wrote on social media, “What an incredible human. So proud to have fought alongside her in our final episode together.”

During her career, Mack accumulated 35 acting credits and five producer credits. She was widely recognized for playing Addy in season 9 of The Walking Dead and Penelope Jacobs in season 8 of Chicago Med as well as in FOX’s 9-1-1.

In addition to her television roles, Mack appeared in commercials for major brands such as Dr. Pepper, Ross, Dairy Queen, and Chick-fil-A. Her passion for storytelling began in childhood, after receiving a mini video camera as a birthday gift, which sparked her early involvement in acting.

“Kelley was known for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering support for those around her,” the CaringBridge statement said. “Her infectious enthusiasm and dedication to her work inspired countless others in the industry and beyond.”

Mack was a graduate of Hinsdale Central High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in cinematography from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in Orange, California.

She is survived by her parents, Kristen and Lindsay Klebenow; sister Kathryn; brother Parker; grandparents Lois and Larry Klebenow; and her boyfriend, Logan Lanier.

“Kelley’s legacy will live on through her contributions to film and television, and in the hearts of those who loved her,” the statement concluded. “She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her talent, kindness, and vibrant spirit.”
