Third round of talks between Indian government and CJP

Following the resignation of India's Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a third round of talks is underway between the protesting organisation Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and representatives of the central government. The movement, which had sparked widespread protests across Delhi and other parts of India, is led by this youth organisation.

After the second round of talks with the government, CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka had told journalists that they received positive responses from the government on two of their three main demands. However, the most sensitive and unresolved issue was the demand for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, which had been a point of contention for a long time. With his resignation on Saturday, one of the protesters' key demands has been met.

Before the third round of talks, the CJP made it clear on social media in an updated list of demands that even though the demand for Pradhan's resignation has been fulfilled, the protests will not stop as their other demands remain unmet. These demands include:

Financial compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family of every student who has committed suicide

No administrative or legal action against any student participating in the protests

A public apology for the harsh measures used by the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Delhi Police to suppress the protests

The organisation's statement mentioned that protesters at the historic Jantar Mantar site in the capital and across the country are still waiting for these demands to be met, and the CJP has indicated that the protests will continue until they are fulfilled.

It may be noted that two rounds of talks between the government and the protesters have already been held, where various demands have been discussed in stages. This third round of talks is believed to play a crucial role in determining the future course of the movement.
