Three people were killed, and nine others were injured when four gunmen opened fire inside a New York City restaurant in Brooklyn, reports Anadolu Ajansi.

The incident took place around 3:27am on Sunday (August 17) at the 'Taste of the City Lounge' on Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights.

Police responded to multiple 911 calls and arrived within minutes to find numerous victims inside.

The victims, ranging in age from 19 to 61, were struck by multiple gunmen following a dispute at the crowded venue.

The three fatalities, two of whom later died in hospitals, were identified as men aged 19, 27, and 35. The remaining victims, a mix of men and women, were transported to nearby hospitals with varying injuries.

According to New York Police Department (NYPD) Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the attack appeared to be gang-related, though several innocent bystanders were also caught in the crossfire. Police recovered 42 shell casings from the scene.

No arrests have been made, and authorities are continuing their investigation. The city's crisis management teams have been deployed to assist the victims' families and to prevent any potential retaliatory violence.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams condemned the attack as a "horrific act of gun violence" and expressed concern over the growing toll of gun-related incidents.

This shooting marks the second mass shooting in the city in just weeks, following an attack in Manhattan that left four dead, including an NYPD officer.
