Three US scientists win Nobel in physics
This year’s Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to three US scientists—John Clarke, Michel Devoret and John M Martinis. All three are researchers at the University of California.
On Tuesday, October 7, around 3:45pm Bangladesh time, their names were announced by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm, Sweden.
So far, 227 people have received the Nobel in Physics. John Bardeen remains the only individual to have won it twice—both jointly.
Earlier, on Monday, the Nobel laureates in Medicine were announced. This year’s Nobel in Medicine went to Mary E. Bruncko and Fred Ramsdell of the United States, and Shimon Sakaguchi of Japan, for their groundbreaking research into the functioning of the human immune system.
