Throat-slit bodies of freedom fighter, wife found in Rangpur home
A freedom fighter and his wife were found murdered in their home in Taraganj upazila of Rangpur on Saturday night.
Police confirmed on Sunday (December 7) that Jogesh Chandra Roy, a Liberation War veteran and former head teacher of Rahimapur Bir Muktijoddha Government Primary School, and his wife Subana Roy were discovered with their throats slit inside their residence in Rahimapur Chakla village.
According to police and locals, the couple lived alone, while their two sons serve in the police force—one posted in Joypurhat and the other in Dhaka.
Dipak Roy, a domestic worker of the victim family, said he arrived as usual on Sunday morning but received no response. With the help of villagers, he entered the house by ladder and found the couple dead.
Authorities, including the Taraganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer, have inspected the scene. Police have begun an investigation to determine the motive and identify those responsible.
