Tigers target gold at Asian Games

Bangladesh’s women’s cricket team have ended their campaign at the Asian Games. Now, the men’s team are waiting to take the field. Led by Litton Das, the Bangladesh men’s cricket team will leave the country on Thursday to take part in the Asian Games. Before their departure, Litton said their only target is to win the gold medal.

Speaking to reporters in Mirpur on Wednesday, Litton said that, just as they aim to win the trophy in any other series, the Asian Games have added the ambition of winning a gold medal. He said every member of the team is heading into the tournament with the goal of finishing on top.

Litton said everyone would have expectations, including himself. However, he added that the players are particularly excited about this tournament because the Asian Games are not held regularly and return only after a considerable gap. That makes the opportunity to compete on such a stage especially meaningful for them.

This will be his first appearance at the Asian Games. Alongside his regular duties with the national team, he sees the chance to compete at such a major international event as a special experience.

As Litton put it, opportunities to win trophies come regularly, but winning at the Asian Games means taking home a gold medal. That is now the team’s biggest dream, and it has made the entire squad excited about the tournament.

Before leaving for the Asian Games, Bangladesh also played two intra-squad practice matches. Litton believes those matches provided the team with good preparation. Now, they want to put that preparation to use by reaching the final and ultimately winning it.
