Tigresses make history with World Cup win over Pakistan

Bangladesh women's cricket team secured their second victory in the T20 World Cup, defeating Pakistan by 23 runs in Southampton on Saturday, June 20.

Batting first after winning the toss, Bangladesh posted 123 runs for the loss of six wickets. In reply, Pakistan's batting collapsed, managing only 100 runs for eight wickets.

Pakistan had started their chase promisingly, reaching 49 for one in 7.3 overs. However, a dramatic collapse followed, with seven wickets falling for just 39 runs. Muniba Ali top-scored for Pakistan with 25 runs, while Gul Firoza contributed 23.

Sanjida Akter Meghla took three wickets for 21 runs, while Nahida Akter also claimed three wickets for 18 runs. Rabeya Khan and Ritu Moni took one wicket each.

Swarna Akter was named player of the match for her unbeaten 39 runs off 22 balls, which helped Bangladesh reach a competitive total. Captain Nigar Sultana contributed 36 runs off 38 balls, while Sobhana Mostary added 22 runs off 19 deliveries.
