Good news for fans of the popular comic character Tintin. The sequel to the animated movie 'The Adventures of Tintin' is finally on its way. The ambitious project to bring the comic book character to the screen was originally undertaken by director Steven Spielberg and co-director Peter Jackson. Now, at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, Peter Jackson has hinted at the release of the second instalment, revealing that the screenplay has already begun.

The first instalment of the film, based on the famous comic adventure created by Belgian cartoonist Hergé, was released in 2011. It created a stir in the comic world by using motion-capture animation to bring the action sequences and the familiar world of the comic to the screen.

At the Cannes Film Festival, Jackson said the sequel is part of an agreement between him and Spielberg. While no final deals have been made regarding casting, it is hoped that actors Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis will return as Tintin and Captain Haddock respectively.

According to film analysts, the growing nostalgia among audiences for animated adventure franchises, combined with the enduring popularity of Hergé's comics worldwide, could make the sequel commercially successful.

However, while the first film released in 2011 was a huge success in Europe and international markets, it failed to perform as expected at the American box office.
