The tradition of giving chocolates as a symbol of love dates back to the Victorian era in Europe and the US Studies have shown that chocolate can boost mood, reduce stress, and enhance feelings of happiness, making it a popular way to convey emotions.

Chocolate has a history of over 2,000 years. Ancient Mayan and Aztec civilizations consumed bitter cocoa beverages, sometimes using cocoa beans as currency. With the arrival of the Spanish, sugar and honey were added, gradually transforming chocolate into a sweet treat. It reached Europe in 1550 as a luxury item, and in 1848, the first solid chocolate bar was introduced, evolving into the diverse flavors and forms enjoyed worldwide today.
While World Chocolate Day is observed on 7 July, Chocolate Day during Valentine’s Week holds a special charm for sharing sweetness with loved ones—or with oneself.
