Import and export operations through the Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria resumed on Tuesday morning following a four-day closure for Eid-ul-Azha.

The resumption began with the export of frozen fish to India, according to land port Clearing and Forwarding (C&F) agents Md Hasibul Hasan and Md Faruk.

Trade activities at the port were suspended from June 6 to 9 in observance of the Muslim festival, in line with prior notice issued to traders in both Bangladesh and India.

However, passenger movement through the port remained uninterrupted during the holiday period.

Akhaura Land Port is one of the country’s busiest export-oriented land ports. Major exports through the port include frozen fish, rods, cement, edible oil, and cotton, primarily destined for the Indian market.
