Travel ban imposed on Shakib Al Hasan, 14 others

A Dhaka court has issued a travel ban on cricketer Shakib Al Hasan and 14 others amid allegations of corruption, money embezzlement, and illegal investment of hundreds of crores of taka in the stock market.

Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib of Dhaka Metropolitan Court issued the order following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday (June 16). ACC’s Public Relations Officer Aktarul Islam confirmed the matter.

The others included in the travel ban are Deputy Registrar Md Abul Khair from the Department of Cooperatives, Kazi Sadia Hasan, Abul Kalam Madbor, Kanika Afroze, Mohammad Bashar, Sajed Madbor, Aleya Begum, Kazi Fuad Hasan, Kazi Farid Hasan, Shirin Akhter, Javed A Matin, Md Zahed Kamal, Md Humayun Kabir, and Tanvir Nizam.

Assistant Director Sajjad Hossain, representing the ACC, filed a petition with the court seeking to restrict their foreign travel due to an ongoing investigation. After reviewing the petition, the court approved the request and imposed the travel ban.
