US President Donald Trump has announced a two-week suspension of potential military strikes on Iran, signaling a temporary de-escalation amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he had agreed to delay bombing and other military action, describing the move as part of a “two-way ceasefire” arrangement.

However, the pause comes with conditions. Trump stated that the ceasefire would depend on Iran ensuring safe and unrestricted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy corridor.

He also revealed that Washington has received a 10-point proposal from Tehran, calling it a “workable basis” for negotiations.

According to Trump, many of the major obstacles to a potential agreement have already been addressed, with both sides nearing consensus on several contentious issues.

The US president expressed optimism that the two-week window could help finalise a deal, framing the move as part of broader efforts to achieve lasting stability in the region.

The development marks a notable shift from earlier threats of military escalation, raising cautious hopes for renewed diplomatic engagement.
